Girl Breaker by Harper Kincaid - REVIEW

I enjoyed this book so much! It reads incredibly fast and is definitely the book you can read in one day and yet still want to start again. This book is about a straight-laced, good-girl on the outside teacher and the dangerous biker and single father who lives two doors down. The third in the Break on Through series, this book can be read as a stand-alone without feeling like you've missed much. This was the first book of the series that I read and I definitely plan to read the others. It looks like the main characters of Girl Breaker were also in the second book which features Jessica's sister Samantha. It was a sweet, dangerous and sexy romantic novel that I saw much of myself in the main heroine.

Jessica is a smart woman with fairy tales in her head of her dream man. She loves books and dating intellectual guys, much like herself but really she is dying to get her hands on the handsome neighbor whose daughter has become a major part of her heart. Max was her protector when her sister was in the throws of her own nightmare with a scary stalker. Having taken Jessica in for a while, she became home and a touch of normal for the biker with a reputation for being wild.

Max, a veteran, now owns his own repair shop but that's not all to this handsome man with intense green eyes, there is something about him that he's kept secret for a while. A part of him that made him keep his distance from the smart, beautiful woman who speaks her mind. Once known as Mad Max for his inability to commit to one woman and wild lifestyle, he has calmed down a bit after finding out that he had a daughter, Piper. Meeting Jessica and having her a part of his life, also made him change, he knew that he didn't deserve her and tried to ease that want for her by getting under any redhead he could find. When that didn't work, he gave in and claimed her as he had wanted to do for as long as he could remember.

But his work is dangerous and when that life comes to his doorstep, can he keep the woman he's claimed as his and his daughter? Or will he lose her for good and his life?

Part of what drew me in was how easy they were together. It didn't feel forced but rather natural between them. They were open with one another and don't hide their feelings from each other despite the circumstances. I loved that Jess went after what she wanted despite how her sister felt or thought about why she went after Max. Jessica is strong and smart which is rare in romance novels at times and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. Facts that attract Max to her without her having to dress or act a certain way.

I definitely want to see more from Jess and Max, it seems to be over faster than I wanted it to be. Natalie was also a character I hope we get to see more of, as her relationship with Rhen would be interesting to be a part of.

Sometimes the best thing a good girl can do is make a bad decision.

Jessica has always been the girl with her head in the clouds and her nose in a book, only dating the “nice guys”. But when rough-around-the-edges Viking-biker-god, Mad Max, and his precocious little girl move onto her street, Jessica falls hard and fast for both of them.

Max is no stranger to women wanting to share his bed—and he’s always been more than happy to oblige them all. He’s lived wild all his life—that is, until a daughter shows up on his doorstep and he meets a redheaded angel down the block.

There’s nothing more he wants than to claim Jessica as his, to bring the gorgeous spitfire to his bed. But a man like him doesn’t get a happy ending with a woman like her. He’s got a whole other life, one he’s kept secret for good reason.

If Jessica found out what he really is, there’s no way she could love him. He should keep his hands to himself. But he’s Mad Max—he’s never done the right thing, and he’s not going to start now.

Warning: Contains a dominating alpha male who’s a lot more than he seems, and a good girl with a swirl of flavors under her vanilla.

A woman with the heart of a revolutionary,
The mind of a pragmatist,
And the inappropriate humor of your tipsy BFF...

Born in California and raised in South Florida, I've moved around like a gypsy with a bounty on my head ever since. Along the way, I've worked as a community organizer, a professional matchmaker, an art teacher, a popular blogger, and a crisis counselor (to name a few). All the while, longing to have the guts and follow-through to do what I really wanted: to write and become a published author. That wish has finally come true and tickled pink with glitter over this good piece of fortune.

What else? Hmm...I love indie, lo-fi, complaint rock played on vinyl, wearing black because it's slimming, the theater, well-informed optimism, happy endings (both kinds),and making those close to me laugh 'til they snort. I'm a self-admitted change junkie, loving new experiences and places, but have now happily settled in the cutest lil' town, Vienna, Virginia.
